Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa have been declared fit following Friday morning medical checks at Laguna Seca.
Both the reigning champion and his Spanish compatriot, third and second in the championship, missed the last race at the Sachsenring following individual accidents; Lorenzo crashed on the Friday, further damaging his left collarbone, whereas Pedrosa suffered a minor fracture to his left collarbone as well as low blood pressure after a similar highside accident the following day.
On Friday in California, medical check-ups were carried out by Dr. Raymond Rossi, Chief Medical Officer of the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Although both riders have been declared fit, Repsol Honda Team has announced that Pedrosa will not be riding in opening practice in a bid to avoid placing too much stress on his injured shoulder.
